Whale Watching is Going Strong!

Whale watching in the beautiful waters of Maui is one of those unforgettable experiences that will leave you with memories that  last a lifetime. With over 30 years in service, Hawaii Ocean Rafting offers incredible whale watching tours that the whole family can enjoy! Be prepared to be astonished by the sheer size and power of these marvelous animals! Hawaii Ocean Rafting even has a hydrophone so you can hear the whales beautiful songs while enjoying your tour.

Humpback whale season typically runs from December  to early May here in Hawaii. This year we had an early start with the first sighting reported in the beginning of October. One of the closest ways that you can view whales is in a Zodiac style raft. Rafts are much closer to the ocean compared to larger boats so you can get that eye-level photo you wish for. Small and fast rafts can zip you quickly to where the action is for an exhilarating tour. Escape the large crowds and go on a smaller boat! Not only will you have an amazing view but you will also have a more personalized experience compared to going on a larger vessel with more passengers.

Please note that we do not approach Humpback Whales closer than federal regulations allow. However, unlike larger vessels, whales are much keener to swim up closer to small rafts on their own.Whether you want to enjoy viewing these gentle giants in a private tour with just your party or in a group setting. A whale watching tour is a must-do for your Hawaiian vacation! Please call us at 808-661- RAFT (7238) to book your Private or Group Whale Watching Tour between the hours of 7am to 4:30pm. Look at some of the photos below for an idea of the amazing time you will have!

**Tips for whale watching tours:

  • Wear Sunscreen - the reflection of the water makes you even more susceptible to sunburns
  • Bring a hat if you have one
  • Sunglasses are always a good idea to protect your eyes
  • Bring your camera for amazing photos!
  • Earlier times are typically smoother waters (winds tend to pick up in the afternoon)
