Our rafts take small groups and we stray far from the beaten path. Our tours are aboard small vessels that make each seat a front row seat. It is truly amazing to be mere feet from these 90,000 lb. We only take small groups, we comfortably carry 16 passengers. Why choose a small group tour?Many tours out there take more than 60 passengers on a single trip. These large vessels can leave you feeling a bit removed from the experience. Our ocean rafts are fun and fast which means we can spend more time whale watching and less time travelling. We promise to avoid the crowds and find our own whales to watch. Many of the larger and slower vessels congregate in groups around groups of whales right outside the harbor. We thing that a better experience is always had when you stray from the beaten path. This is about the best time of the year to get out on the water and experience some great whale activity. Each of our vessels is eqiuiped with a submersible hydrophone. This cool device allows you to hear the intricate songs of whales all around the raft.

"We have been on dozens of whale watches either from Lahaina or Maalea Bay, mostly with Pacific Whale Foundation. We decided to mix it up on this last whale watch and try Hawaii Ocean Rafting mostly because of the reviews. Well, let me tell you! OMG! We had humpback whales circling our raft and I believe they were looking at us like we were looking at them. They were close enough to touch. Captain Jeff is the bomb! He is laid back and not stuffy at all. He tells it like it is which is refreshing. They have the hydrophone which is a must for us. I just can't tell you how pleased we were with this experience and will not go with anyone else but Hawaii Ocean Rafting!"
